New battery causes CEL to STAY off!

Post by vmaxmike »

The check eng light has been on for over 2 years now with P2402 code which is Leak detection pump circuit high. This caused no drivability issues but each time I got tired of looking at it, I'd reset the light with a scanner, it would always come back on within a day. Funny thing, the battery got weak recently and I replaced it with a slightly stronger new one, the light went off and has stayed off!! Is the new battery causing ECM to somehow compensate?

Similar issues to a weak battery in my landrover Discovery 2. Good to see its just not a landrover thing!

If your Service Engine Soon light will come on in the key on position and goes off when the vehicle is started you are in good shape.
