So this is really a newbie question. My car has 197600 miles on it and it needs new rear shocks that I am certain of. Should I be also be purchasing the shock mounts, do these normally get replaced when you do the shocks? I am also unable to figure out if my vehicle has the NIVOMAT feature where would I find out?
Again I realize these are pretty basic things, I appreciate only a little snickering.

If the mounts are not broken, cracked, or visibly dry rotted, they should be fine to use again.

Your car should have shocks. A great way to see what parts to fit your car is to go to FCPGroton. Type in your car parameters and their site will show what's parts fit. Gives part number and pictures. Also check your trailing arm links at that mileage.

You can tell Nivomats by looking at them. The Nivomats have a bellows over them and they are fairly large in diameter. Standard shocks look like just plain old shocks.

A while back I wrote up short guide on changing over the rear shocks and mounts, with some sizing information on the bolts. In the guide, the shocks are the standard OEM non-nivomat type. For reference, the shock part number is Sachs 105 828. The mount part number is Hutchinson 538124, aka Volvo 9461524.
