For this you don't need Vida however the Dice must be recognised in Device Manager.

I followed this detailed instruction https://docs.google.com/document/d/11Y9XH_foHNOdpYP5qEAH5fh0igsdAM7fHlVixKjwgVk/edit?pli=1 but, the Dice hardware was not found even I tried to connect and disconnect several times. I still don't know if it 's the Dice's defect or the complex involving usb connection of virtual machine.

Since I don't need Vida for this hassle, is there anyway that I can install only Dice's driver and software and make use of it.

I have an extra laptop with Windows Vista. I will try and see if it's work.

This folder link is from my own Vida instaLL disc. i'm pretty sure it's the Dice install files. Only 10MB

Download each file and folder separately and then combine them in the structure you see.

Use Chrome or Mozilla browser only

Thank you very much Mike for the link to Dice installation files.

What do I do after I completed the same structure?

On my installation disk, it also has this folder.Image

I guess, the dice will need to be powered from obdII port. Am I correct? If that the case, I had to wait for my car since yesterday I had to get it towed to the shop to fix the electrical issure (first, It could be started then later it would not start and the battery was loosing voltage)

On Monday I will call them up and find out if they find anything further.

Click on setup file and it will install the Dice driver. The one you have is recognisable also as the correct file.

Yes the Dice needs power from OBDII in order to install and be recognised in device manager.

The shop called and said I needed a new battery. I wonder If I electrocute it to dead. Is there such a thing? (The battery has not shown any problem sign before, however it's 4 years old battery). I said yes to them. The shop does not have Vida/dice. They will check if they can do anything when I asked if they can pull any software numbers from the throttle.

Code: Select all

Click on setup file and it will install the Dice driver. The one you have is recognisable also as the correct file.
I was able to install the Dice software (from the disk). Just anciently wait to connect to be recognized. I was just curious what will happen if it connects to another car not a Volvo.(only in my thought)

Don't connect Dice to a non Volvo and only a 1999 plus. Even a pre 1999 car may have the immobilser shut down by the wrong command.

Thank you for your warning. Mike.

I have not gotten the car back yet. The shop wants to keep the car for another day. I wish I had another Volvo to connect.

I just got the car back (limped mode). Finally, the shop gave up and told me to get a correct year, new throttle body.

Mike, I was able to install Dice and communicated with the car. I have to ask, considering my skill and the mistake earlier, what would be my best (safe) option next. ?

1. Try to reload the correct firmware (which I don't know how to and I might need to know the
firmware number of the old one)
2. Continue the risk with Sacer. (old unit without reloading)
3. Xemodex (my very last resource)

I will try to get a picture of the old (original) throttle that I did put Sacer on but without solder and putty.

As I mentioned in my PM to you post up the ECM numbers (engine control module) or just ask Henry (PM him as MVS user doublebug) to connect to your laptop via internet so he can work his magic.

He may ask you to install Team Viewer version 9 or 10 first so he can transfer some files for connection purposes.
