1998 S70 O.E. Oxygen sensor brand?

Does anyone know for a fact what the original equipment oxygen sensor is that came on my car at its birth?
I keep hearing "Bosch" but I am not really sure. Does it really matter? Is my 17 year old car smart enough to know if I don't install a Bosch sensor?

Bosch 15097 on the front
Bosh 15062 on the rear

It really matters, yes, your car will know, and it will tell you. And don't be fooled into buying "Bosch" sensor for cheap on eBay, they are almost all counterfeits. Amazon is a good source.

Oops - for a 98 the connector is a different length, 15063 is the rear one, and actually that is for a turbo. I suggest look up the part number at a vendor to be certain.

I looked at the web pages at fcpgroton.com. Since you indicate you are replacing the rear oxygen sensor, You are going to need to look under the car, for the location of the sensor. Is it back on the middle of the car, under the cross-member that holds up the exhaust, then it is Bosch 15062. If it is much closer to the front of the car and uses only a short wire, then it is Bosch 15063.

Also, there are some "universal fit" Bosch sensors, those are also not recommended.

Disclaimer: there are lots of ways the car throws O2 sensor codes that are faults other than the sensor itself, usually vacuum or exhaust leaks.

JRL, doesn't the harness come with the sensor? I never buy the "universal" fit ones.

Just phoned the Volvo dealer. He told me for my application (1998, S70 base) the Volvo P/N is 9202720.
Not sure how that aprt number equates to the Bosch P/N. The dealer's price is $302.00!

Volvo 9202720 is a Bosch 15062. I would still eyeball it under the car to be sure your car has the long-cabled one (installed in the center of the car, like right under the center console), but the dealer is probably right.

There is a separate extension harness that Volvo sells, like this: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... ar-9202715. I haven't used them but JRL certainly knows the ropes.
