2005 S60 Key stuck in position I

2005 S60. The key is stuck in position I. The car will start, drive, etc., but I cannot turn the key past position I to remove the key. Any suggestions? Thank you.

If you still are having problems, take the cover off the transmission shifter and check the cable operation sounds like when you put the vehicle in park ( even though transmission is in park) the cable that goes to the key is stuck and not pulling back properly, seen this happen if someone spills something sticky in that area like juice, sweet coffee or what ever else you can think off

Sometimes my shifter release button on the gear selector gets stuck "in" and I have to shake it to release. (pop it back out).
Another time my "shiftlock overide" button got stuck and wouldn't release the key. Used some tweezers and just pulled the button up to get the key.
Both have to do with the cable not releasing. Safety feature.
