Hi. I have tried to look this up by checking which car the replacement part is for, but I'm still not sure.
Long story short. My alternator broke down, and I don't have time to try fixing it or money to buy a new one. So I'm off to the scrapyard to salvage one after work. I know there is a few v70's around, so my main question is: which year and engine size does it have to be to fit? I'm also wondering if it is any difference between the alternator for diesel and petrol, my car is petrol.
There's about 4 hours until my shift ends and I'm hoping someone can help me.
Thanks for reading. I had great help last time.

2 hours until I'm off to pick up a alternator. Is there anyone in here that knows anything about alternators or at least have an opinion about it? Sorry for rushing you guys.
If someone reads this, but doesn't know the answear, is there anyway of finding the answears I need? I would really appreciate if some actually helped me in looking up some information because I'm really bussy at work :/ but ofcourse I don't expect anyone to actually browse up information for me. Just a bad situation for me.

We don't have diesels here in the U.S. So I don't think the parts places like FCP or EEuro list diels parts.
If you can post, though, you can click the links above to double check.
The electrical requirements are the same but the mounting and other stuff probably isn't. How many pick and pull (Eng translation , breaker yards) are there on IOW, anyhow??

There is one scrapyard.
Here is a list over the Volvo's they have at the moment.
940 (L)850 (N)S40 (S)S40 (T)V70 (02)V70 (04)C70 (W)
The letters indicate the year of the car. Which you probably would have to google because I never remember what they are. Also they seem to always have an incorrect list compared to the cara available.
What should I look at on the alternator to make sure it works or is in decent condition? Apart from the fittings etc. I will have to look at what engine sizes the cars is when I get there. Diesel is very popular over here, so chances are that the v70 and c70 is both diesel :/ Does anyone know if the alternator for diesel and petrol is deffinetly the same? I will look what is writte on the alternator once I find one, that would probably make it a bit more easy to check if it fits my car or not.

This past weekend I was in our junkyard in Durham, North Carolina (USA) and saw an S70 with a relatively new-looking remanufactured alternator... it had a shiny silver Bosch remanufactured label on it. I was considering removing it in case it might be needed later, but I've read that it's not a quick job, so I left it. Maybe you will get lucky and find a 'reman' alternator.

Alternators are the same across all petrol models.I don't think that Diesels are exception.
