Blown Engine in 2000 v70

So I was driving the v70 and it started running rough so I slow down and notice it's smoking like a fog machine and go to pull off the road and the oil light comes on. Get it towed to the nearest town and the local mechanic tells me its the rings on #5 cylinder. He says they don't rebuild them, they just replace the engine

So I am going to tow it home and my questions are

1) where should I take it? The stealership or an independent(I don't have one now that I trust) and no I can't do this myself.

and

2) How much am I looking at

You're probably better off getting a used engine from either
www.erievovo.com or another yard.
A low mileage motor shouldn't be more than 800-900 dollars. (with a guarantee)
Add about 13-15 hours labor

It sure helps to post the mileage and WHICH engine you have

Engine: B 5244T has 125k on it.
I do have a friend... should I even go there?

Only you can answer that but you will get an engine with MUCH lower mileage from ERIE and they are guaranteed
