Hi, kinda of my first post, i´ve inherited a beautiful 97 850 Wagon, but it has typical volvo-itis, pcv and a/c are bad, It has ECC and both light flashes.
It´s a Fenix 5.2 injection system so I had to pull codes via a homemade reader, anyways, the code that keeps reapearing is 2-1-1 which is Driver’s Side Damper Motor Position Sensor Circuit Open Or Shorted To Power and I have absolutely no idea what a damper motor position sensor is or what shorted to powe means, can anyone shed a light on this? living without an A/C is not a thing I can live with having 100+ temperatures.
BTW, what things can stop these cars from blowing air cold? I´ve recharged the freeon (R134a) so that´s not it, Compressor? It engages, Evaporator? The damn damper motor, where is that damn thing?
Thanks and have a nice day to everyone reading.

Check on some earlier post as someone gave me information on the location of the dampener motors. At least I have cold air on the drivers side and hot on the pass side, so I just closed the air off the pass side and need to plug the lower heat vent until I can get into it. I hope to at some point tear into my now not running '98 and learn a thing or two about the A/C system to help everyone out.
It might be possible to hand move these dampeners and at least have them in one position until winter hits.

If the AC pipes in front of the firewall are cold and you are getting cold air on one side the AC system is probably ok and you just have a bad motor on the ECC

I spent some time digging around through the ECC system a couple years ago to resolve a problem with a damper motor. I wrote up my "adventures" here, including diagnosing, locating, removing, repairing and reinstalling the driver's side damper motor: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... 5&p=251432
