Don't rule out the electric seats yet. It might be the 4th of July before I can get into working on tearing up the '98, but I will be removing the carpet to get a look at where all the wires go to and it might be a plug and play, so at least keep the seat for now. I have the autoresets from the '98 and I hope they work in the '99. Any thoughts?
I was going to just pull the top part of the dash off and save, as it looks to be in pretty good shape. Given enough time I would pull the entire dash for practice. The '99 is showing signs of having some failed attachments points.

Shane. There is some type of plastic or epoxy putty called "PC11" that might be used to craft new attachment points. I'm going to give it a try. As far as the power seat goes, I lifted the carpet under my existing manual seat and that floor is smooth, with no wires of any sort in evidence for as far as the eye can see.

As far as the autoresetters go, I've been lead to believe that it is plug and play all the way, although it certainly did not work out that way when I tried to put a power passenger seat in my '99 V70. I got all wired up and no joy. I gave up on that one after squandering a few hours.

Hello again ES,

I had used PC Fahrenheit in the past and it worked really really well. I may have used PC11 too, but i cant remember now.
But since i couldnt find it anymore i found another epoxy called
"JB Weld"

and the stuff works very well, and stands fairly high temperatures too. I used it to fix two emission valves on the old Hyundai once.

The JB Weld is the best stuff but it does take some time to cure. About 24 hours, but in high demand stuff it's worth the wait. You can always use a 5 minute type for the initial hold-in-place, then finish up with JB Weld.

The same company makes JB Kwik, and that stuff sets up really fast, like in about 3 minutes at around 80 degrees F. The temperature rating isnt as high as JB Weld however.

The types i have are both black in color (both Weld and Kwik), but they may make other colors.

I havent found anything as good yet, although the PC Fahrenheit stuff worked pretty well too. The temperature rating is pretty high but not as high as JB Weld.

I never tested JB Weld to see if it would really hold up to the package stamped rating, but it did work on the car emission valves.
I've also used both Weld and Kwik on various things at home although at more normal temperatures.
I dont like buying this stuff on line however as one time i got a package where one tube was all dried up already (they both come in two parts like most other epoxies).

I am where you are on the '99 manual to electric seat swap. Haven't had the time to check anything yet, but if and when I do and find anything, I will let the public know so we can put it to rest.
This summer is all about camping and kids, so the real fun stuff needs to wait. I need some cool days around the 4th to be able to do things.

Hi,

You mention the summer and cool days. The summer and hot days is what is preventing me from working on my heap these past several days. I hate that, and for some part of the day the car is in direct sunlight so it gets pretty toasty out there. Needless to say, i havent gotten much done in the past week or so. Waiting for a nice cool day to do some more.

We get that northern breeze once in a while in the middle of summer. Low humidity is what I like. I just like good conditions to crawl up and down for a few hours. I doubt the 4th will be the time, but that is my next break between visits from family.

This is what was under the carpet. A black plastic flat that houses the wires for the seats. I will try and follow to the end.

I love Harry's and its only an hour from my home. Did you notice if they had more roof rails available other than the ones you pulled? I want to add a set to my 98 V70-T5.

I don't recall seeing any rails other than the ones I grabbed, but I did not make it to the Allentown yard so I can't say whether they might have any there. By the time I got to Pennsburg, I was laser focused on parts I actually needed as opposed to "targets of opportunity" so I can't say whether they might have any there or not, but my impression of Pennsburg is that there were few, if any wagons there. I certainly don't recall see a significant number of wagons there, but you could check inventory online.
