2002 s60 2.4t misfire

Took a 500 mile trip today. 250 miles or so into trip car started misfiring and surging. Made it home and tcv is clicking and check engine light is on. Any thoughts as to what might have happened? Filled tank up around 200 miles into trip but I dont think its bad gas.

Try disconnecting the TCV and seeing if you then just have a dog slow car but decent running.

How many miles on the car and the spark plugs??

It still runs horrible. Motor is misfiring weather its plugged in or not.

175 thousand miles. 100 thousand on the plugs. Coil packs are original. I have been meaning to change them but the car has ran excellent up till yesterdays trip. Went to kansas city to go to casino. Car drove great. Went and gave the casino some money. Car sat for probably 3 hours. Started it up and it started surging as i left casino. Drove 200miles home with internment surging. Car became ran really bad after getting off highway when i got home.

If the plugs are standard copper tipped plugs that would be the first stop. The electrodes would have pretty much melted away by now. Only platinums can last 100 thousand miles if that much.

Oriellys scanned the car and the #4 cylinder was not firing. Put in new nkg iridium plugs and one new coil pack. Car is running great again.
