what fits 1991 740 turbo

I am new to the B230FT engines. When looking to replace either engine or block I am asked if I need the block with the sensor hole in it. Supposedly the 1991 model does. OK, I'll look. Which side, where about is it, what is in it? Is it for timing? Is this question specific to the model of injection I have.
Thanks for any help, probably more questions in a few weeks.

Sorry to have taken so long to reply but I have been trawling through lots of literature and can't find an answer.

Are you looking to replace the engine? If you are, quote the Vehicle Identification Number and the supplier should be able to sort it out from that. Similarly for buying parts, quote the VIN to be on the safe side.
