when you buy these kits do I need (2) kits?

1 kit is for 1 caliper.

ok thanks -- think i'll pass on them for now 150k on car -- putting on new rotors and pads, hopefully the calipers (after 17 years) will be ok. at that price, probably smarter just to buy all new calipers.

The REAR caliper attachment (where it meets the metal line) is usually seized for good.
I tried to undo the nut but rounded it.

So, if your REAR calipers boot is slightly torn, rebuild the REAR caliper in-situ.

I wrote a detailed procedure in that hydraulic rebuild thread.

It's fine to try to remove the brake line from the caliper, front or rear or whatever, I wouldn't give up without trying.

Use a quality flare nut wrench and possibly some heat (but not too much!). The rear one is a trouble spot, no doubt, but many people have removed that nut without issue. So far I have rounded off one nut, that is in about four or five tries.

I bought kits for my v70, but wound up buying calipers anyway because the pistons were badly rusted due to torn dust boots allowing water in.
