could a partially obstructed exhaust system cause air to "stack" and maybe do this?
You say the turbo is new-is it the same wheels and housing refreshed with new seals and bearings, or is it a replacement that may be trimmed wrong?
And is it the same turbo that your car is tuned for?

Current Volvos:
1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)

Hi Adam,
I guess you know you should be getting at least 3bar pressure at rail. Not convinced dealer got it right when they measured mine as they said it was running 4 bar.
There is a fuel pressure regulator, but I'd need to see where it is on a 98. On the 2000 it is on top of the fuels tank on the RHS just in front of the right rear wheel. Small silver can with an input and output. Mounts on top of a block that the main fuel pipe runs through.
The small silver can is about half way up photo with a red tape flag to the right of it.
Had a quick look at Vida and it isn't helpful showing where it is fitted, but I think it is in the engine compartment. Maybe someone with a 98 can advise. There is also a 2nd pressure regulator under the fuel rail. There appears to be 2 types depending on the engine fitted.
There is another question. Did you uprate the injectors for the fuel rate you will need? If not the standard ones may not be sufficient for the flow rate.
Neil.

Well they should be good. Couple of questions. When you say you replaced parts, do you use new OE parts, New Aftermarket or used? Volvos are particular and sometimes aftermarket parts are just no good, and of course, used can be a lottery sometimes.
A couple of questions for you.
You have had the engine software chipped or modified to get greater power, but you never said who supplied it. I would expect the supplier to be able to advise you on the requirements for the engine to be able to produce it. If it is claimed to produce 340bhp, then you are very un-likely to produce that with standard parts as I have previously said. My car is running a supposed 312 bhp and 300ft/lb on Rica software, but the 2000 year I believe already had bigger injectors, and I have had to upgrade the TCV to cope, and if I can be bothered, I will eventually upgrade the CBV with the IPD HD unit. Unfortunately the T19 needs to be removed to replace the CBV.
