2006 XC90 replacing passenger seat panel

Post by cruser »

Replacing the front passenger seat panel is very similar to the driver's side control panel. Cut the zip tie attaching the main seat control cable running to the harness; it is a blue and white box. To paraphrase "tatonka 12345" instructions with the driver's side control panel: "There is a 15 t screw on the front end of the panel which runs perpendicular to the seat rails but faces the interior of the car. Unscrew it and you will be able to pull the front part of the whole side panel up from the 9 o'clock position to about 11 or 12. You should be able to pop the panel out now which is only held in place on the rear end by some tension from the C connection to the seat. Unscrew the three 20t screws which hold the seat control module in the panel". Now the difficult part because there is very little finger room under the seat. Squeeze the sides of the blue and white box (harness) and the box should separate in about half. Now you should be able to remove the seat control module and cable from the panel itself. After placing the seat control module in the "new seat panel", along with screwing in the three 20t screws, pop the side panel back into the C connection at the rear of the panel. "There is a metal plate protruding from under the seat which helps to support the panel so make sure that is is securely in place before replacing the single 15t screw". This job took about 10 minutes to take off and replace. The most time consuming part was separating the harness box to free up the seat control cable so it could be taken out.
