2003XC70 Cheap coils throw codes?

Post by carboncow »

For my backup car that I don't really want to put money into I had to "borrow" the coils and MAF to put in my daily driver. That mean I bought cheap 3rd party coils and MAF...they seem to run pretty well and no "check engine" light on the dash but if I hook my OBD2 scanner on it shows coil p-code errors for all 5 coils! Haven't hooked up to vida dice yet.

Anyone else's experience with my "5 for $55" coils doing this?

Are the codes pending or only visible in VIDA?

I thought the codes were only generated my misfires which aren't good.

Maybe compare resistance measurements to stock?

5 for 55 is a great price....good enough for a political campaign strategy too.....
