Post by freeman »

Hi everyone.
I write to you from the cold Russia))
On my machine with the engine Volvo s70 V5234T3 error occurred P0172.
Scanner shows the MassAirFlow at idle 2.5 g/s -this is normal for a turbo?

Welcome to MVS,

The P0172 code is almost always due to a vacuum leak. On the end of the intake manifold, #1 cylinder end, there is a rubber elbow that has a bad habit of either rotting or falling off and most of the time the leak can be traced to that point. If that elbow looks OK then check the rest of the vacuum lines.

The elbow is well hidden and it is in a very tight spot behind the power steering pump and the alternator.

ok thanks. :)

You do not find the photo you accidentally or directory where i can see the hose?
And what should be the mass air flow in the engine (B5234T3) on idle?

There are some good pictures of the "usual culprit" elbow in this thread.

As far as the idle speed MAF reading goes, I don't know. I don't have a scanner that has a real time data function other than VIDA/DICE and I can only use that on my '99. All my scanner does is read and clear the P codes.

Here is some data from my T5 2.3 liter turbo engine. I think 2 g per sec is low... I recorded 4-4.25 g per sec

Thanks.
Why be a small air flow?
Could this be an indication of failure of the MAF or O2 sensor?
Could this be an indication of failure of the turbo?

If Could you, could you send the scanner readings from your engine at idle? :)
