Hello from France !

Post by nowahala »

Hello Guys,

Just to introduce myself a bit :) ;
Adrien, 33 years old from France. I have a V70 AWD 2.4T 2000 (phase 1). Model type = LW56K8.
I joined this forum to improve my complete newbie mechanical skills :D and learn about my car.
It has 170 000km and i am fed up paying a lot for the maintenance... particularly from my local Volvo dealer which has killing prices and not really good service.

So i would like now to perform maintenance and repair myself, and i hope to find some help on this forum  ! Next things i should repair is :
- Angle gear
- Drive shaft
- Catalic convertor
- Trottle housing

Looks like i will need to buy an hydraulic ramp (and also some tools) soon to perform all that stuff  !

But first challenge for me is to find correct part number to be sure to order the right part for my car !

Have a nice day and see you on the forum !

Adrien

Welcome Adrien

You will get plenty of help here and save many Euros.

I have visited your beautiful country, Paris, Ferney-Voltaire (my wife's first cousin lives there) near Geneva, Bayeux and the D-Day beaches, and Mont-St-Michel. It was an experience I will never forget.

Best Wishes

Lamar

Bienvenue Adrien, from Guyonvelle near Langres, and Geneve. Although I live in Switzerland and France, I get most of the parts for my S80 and C70 from wither Skandix in Germany, or IPD or FCP Euro in the US. Even with the extra shipping costs, things made in Germany are still cheaper in the US swnt back here. Anyway, if you're not sure about part numbers, just give any of these suppliers a call and tell them what you need. Should go all right. Also their online catalogs are pretty good at identifying the parts you need based in model/year.

Bon chance, let us know what you need and we're here to help.

Welcome to all the help you could ask for..
I like your Fries and your wine, not in that order.
The knowledge on here is far better than any other site, not that I have been to any other site, just word of mouth :) .

Hello Guys,

Thanks a lot for your welcome ; ) Much appreciated and it seems atmosphere is great here !

I am still struggling finding Drive shaft and Angle gear at good price.
I've checked Skandix/Nordicar but couldn't find less than 2000€ (2300$) for these two parts : (... which is more expensive than the price of my car !
@Klumper, thanks for the shop website links, i will check if i can find better price.

By the way, about fuel car consumption, i am around 14liters/100km... i suspect that bad catalyzor and bad throttle housing couldn't help. But what fuel consumption should i expect for my car once Catalyzor and Throttle housing will be fixed ? For guys who have also '00 V70 Phase 1 2.4T AWD, don't hesitate to share your fuel consumption ; ) !

Cheers !

Adrien
