OK, haven't yet opened the coil cover but my mechanic is saying the following:
1. The coil is melting from top down
2. Before the coil was melting he check engine compression and there was no leaking in compression so he thinks that the engine head is not cracked
3. He said that the car electritian service guy checked the grounding before he tested the ECM unit

Now, i do not know if all has been done. WIll open the cover and see if the coil is melted top down again

Can you remove plug and see if side electrode is bent to touch center, post a pic also?

They do ground through the 10mm (M6) bolt that holds on the coils, so if that bolt is loose/missing/dirty that could contribute to a bad electrical connection.

As you can see, the burning of the coil is top down, even the connector has been burned and one of its legs even changed its form when i extracted it out of its coil housing

It looks like the red white wire is clipped. What's going on there?

I agree that is a top down meltdown.

Hi

I do not know the reason for which the red/white wire is clipped, i would guess it came that way when the harness was replaced as that wire is not going forward on the harness itself

Is that an issue? how many wires should there be to each of the coils?

I need to check with the electrition who replaced the harness

I think there are three to the coil, so it's very likely that the problem is one of the wires is misconnected. I'll guess the 12vDC is going to the trigger transformer ground.

My 1999 colored wires are different but that may be a model year change.

I think we are close to the solution.,,,Behatsclacha!!

I made some resistance measurements in this thread
