power steering thread stripped

The previous owner claims that he paid a mechanic to replace the power steering hoses. They do appear aftermarket but the thread is stripped in one of the lines going into the rack and pinion. I lose all of the fluid within 10 minutes. Can this be repaired or am I on the hook for the new line and rack ?

This happened to me on a rebuilt factory rack I obtained from eEuroparts.com. My mechanic went to install the rack but said the rebuilt unit had a crack in the body that opened up as soon as line was inserted and tightened. To their credit, eEuroparts stepped up, but this was on a rack supposedly painstakingly rebuilt by their supplier, Atlantic Automotive Enterprises in North Carolina -- a purported premier rebuilder of steering racks who claims to utilize an array of quality control procedures in their rebuilding process. Color me skeptical. Try to find out if it was just the lines that were replaced, or whether the rack was replaced with a remanufactured one as well.
