2002 s80 t6 Engine removal
This the first Volvo I have owned I bought it 2 days ago with a bad engine and found a used one with 57k miles. My question is whats the best way to get the engine out ? top or bottom? I plan to leave the transmission connected and I'm not a novice been a mechanic for 25 years just never worked on a Volvo

My sisters 2004 S80 2.9 engine just died. We are planning a swap. Can you provide a quick overview on what you encountered. I am not asking for a step by step, but maybe some key highlights.
The plan is to use a lift and follow VIDA, but that usually has extra steps that are not needed.
Thanks - looking forward to a non Volvo Tech prospective.

10 engines out so far and best way for me is to take it off through the bottom with sub frame, steering and all suspension attached, way easier then unbolting all engine mounts, axles and everything else while on the car, once its out of the car you have much better access to all the bolts to replace the engine it self
