any 850 how to prewash the $38.00 htr core?

Mine still stinks and it has to be 8 mos. or more since it was installed.

Did you wash yours?
I did not, but I did run some distilled water through the system while looking for leaks.
1993 850 GLT , You wouldn't know it.
1996 850 Turbo Wagon White.
1995 T-5R Black. New work in progress.
1998 V70 XC Cross Country White.
1994 850 N/A Wagon Black.
1997 850 Sedan Black.
1996 850R Wagon White.
1997 850 Sedan Red ( not white or black!)

Soaked in a bucket of soapy water for about 8 hours prior to install.

I boiled some water, added some DW detergent, then dipped the HC in there to clean all the grease (I removed the foam for this process, maybe unnecessary step), then rinse with water. You can put the HC in the DW but it takes a long time for the whole 2-3h cycle.

I've installed two and washed them the way cn90 did. One did not smell--the other one still has some odor right after startup. The latter looked a little oilier than the the first. My takeaway is, if it looks oily, do the dishwasher unless you like LJS batter-fried cod riding with you. :?
