2002 c70 Ets light with xemodex installed

Post by Flystagg »

I bought my car with an intermittent ets light and wandering idle. bought a xemodex diy kit on ebay and installed it shortly after. It cured my wandering idle, but my ets light is still on. Throttle appears to function perfectly except I have no cruise control. I've been driving my car like this for 9+ months now...

Is there anything else I can do to try and fix my etm issue don't want to throw a bunch of money at it because I have no drivability problems

sorry I don't have the specific ets code my scanner wont read it have no check engine/obd codes

As I discovered, the ETM and cruise control are likely unrelated. The cruise issue is likely the switch in the stalk. I cured my cruise issue for a $10 pick n pull stalk with functioning switch.

Use your code reader to turn out the ETS light and don't look back.

You may have a vacuum leak, which would also cause the cruise control to not work. Been there, fixed that!

A ETS light has nothing to do with faulty functioning cruise control, though cruise won't work while most ETM related faults are active. The ETS system can't know that you have a dodgy switch. If no connection is made at the switch the ETS system just assumes you're not activating cruise to the ON position.

In EShowell's car ETS light was off and cruise not active.

Without a Volvo specific scanner you may never learn the reason for the ETS light. It may be on due to a failed brake pedal position switch which is not performance limiting.

Yes I assumed it was an ETS issue causing the cruise not to work and not visa versa I will research possible vacuum leaks
