2005 xc70 engine system service required, brake failure

You can do it under one day, if you have all the tools and drop exhaust as a first thing. Working around exhaust and driving to shop to get those pulleys one by one took a major part of that day. I did the job with car sitting on 4x 6000 lbs RhinoRamps, space is adequate, and you can just put exhaust and driveshaft aside on floor. I'd say, can be done in 4-5 hours working slowly.

is it ok to drive in this condition until the pump is replaced?

Yeah, I drove around a month when I clearly realized that the pump is dead. It was causing strange effects at least few months before that, until I started to suspect AWD.
