1999 V70XC AWD Door mechanism broken

Post by tyrendis »

Hey guys, so the locking mechanism on my truck has been broken for a few months and I am looking for a place to purchase a new assembly. Additionally, last night the same thing happened to my driver's side door and it will not shut. As of this morning, however it seems stuck shut after driving it to work. My questions are, then: How do I re-open the door without breaking anything else and where do I purchase the new mechanisms? thanks!

I dealt with this on a 99 V70 afew months ago.

Take off the surround from the internal door handle and remove the torx screws from the door trim. As I don't recall exactly which fasteners to remove you may want to look at one of RSPI's videos on the topic.

You need to pry the door trim off with a crowbar. There will be damage but if done carefully will just be a small hole. The clips will be smashed and need replacement.

Most of the lock is a plastic casing. By being pretty brutal on the casing with screwdrivers through the holes in the door skin you should eventually be able to smash the locking mechanism and the door will release from the jamb.

A second hand assembly at a pick and pull won't cost much but what a fiddly job!!

Try http://www.erievolvo.com or give them a call.

The advantage with pulling it yourself is you get to experiment on a "guinea pig" before doing it on your own. I hope Erie can help you.

That is the one you need. The handle trim may vary in color however with patience you may be able to swap it.
