So, I'm halfway through a rear brake job, including caliper replacement. New rotor is on and now I'm trying to disconnect the brake line nut. I'm noticing it is a bit rounded and am having trouble getting a flare wrench or even regular open ended 11 mm wrench on it -- I even tried a 10 mm wrench. I went to the small vice grips and even they aren't going to cut it. Any suggestions as to how to get that nut off?
I don't have a line flaring tool and I am doubting I can get a replacement brake line nut on a Sunday afternoon. I was supposed to take the car long distance tomorrow.

Thinking about another way to skin this cat. The caliper with the frozen nut is toast anyway. I am considering replacing the entire hard brake line going back to the junction over the rear crossmember -- about 4 feet of hard brake line. Does anybody know whether the brake line fitting that goes into the junction over the rear crossmember is the same fitting that goes into the caliper, or is it a different type of fitting? I am at the mercy of Advance Autoparts for fittings.

The EASIEST way is transplant the piston, seal and boot over the existing caliper body.

Next time if you have one of these ahead of time, it's unlikely you will not be able to loosen that nut. It has tremendous gripping force.

Going back and forth between a ratcheting flare wrench (10 mm) and an 11 mm open ended wrench, I managed to get the nut off and swap the caliper.
