2005 xc70 serpentine belt tensioner

Post by mrscullini »

couldn't find the answer after a search. there does not seem to be a bolt head in the center of the tensioner. my 2000 had a 14mm hex head that i grabbed to release the tension on the belt. how do you grab the tensioner on the '05 to release tension?

Tap with a screwdriver to remove the plastic cap. Ratchet with a handle extension on the 14mm bolt then clockwise until it stops (a good 90 degrees) to release the tension

thanks jrl. i did do the axles on sunday. it does seem to help. i haven't driven it much because i'm currently battling a haldex pump issue that just popped up.

i've got to get it up on blocks so i can check the pump and the dem.
