99 S70 Lost a pin from shifter button

My auto shifter button pin is lost. It is the pin most visible at the top in this screen grab from a DIYrobert video. It is the also only pin installed in the button part itself. I am looking, but if I don't find it, does anyone have one out to measure the length on? Diameter would be good info too, but I think it is the same diameter as the other pins. I figure a trip to the hardware store (an actual, good hardware store) and I should have my replacement without resorting to a trip to a pick and pull.



I pulled mine apart a while back to see if it was repairable. I then decided to order a repair kit and they were always out of stock. I had the dash out and under repair so it sat around and eventually got up and walked away on its own apparently. Now I have the dash back in, going back together with everything. My new shift button arrived and no pin.

find one at the junkyard/salvage yard? or just buy a second hand shifter knob on ebay?

I saved the good button out of my cracked up 850 shift knob.

The top pin is 3mm x 25mm long.

Just now, I found an almost perfect specimen to replace it in my junk parts and fasteners. It came out of a bag of scrounged bits from a long defunct Daisy powerline 92 co2 pistol. But frankly, I wouldn't care if it came out of a coffeemaker as long as it worked. This one was actually better than the original as it has a knurled section on one end that keeps it from backing out from one side. Came in handy during reassembly.

And so, it is fixed.

Is it weird that I get a little kick out of fixing stuff for $0 with my saved junk bits? Ha ha! I don't care.

this fix is the definition of "getting a kick out of saved junk bits." Funny how the springs loops under the pin, but only after everything is installed. Its frustrating to get it right
