97 Volvo850 Cruise control linkage
97 Volvo850 Cruise control linkage
In order to remove a defective environmental control damper motor I temporarily disconnected the cruise control servo unit from the intermediate lever which is attached to the top of the gas pedal. This intermediate lever is now pointing toward the driver. I am trying to rotate it so it points toward the engine but it only swivels over a range of about 180 degrees facing the driver. How can I release it so it points the other way? Don't want to force it...HELP! Wlutz

wlutz-- I know what you're talking about... I had the same problem earlier this year when I replaced the heater core and hoses. The only trouble is I can't remember what I did to get the lever to swing back into the right position. All I can recall is pivoting or rotating the lever back to face the correct direction and then reconnecting... sorry I can't be of any help. Maybe somebody else has a photograph of what the system is supposed to look like when it's connected together and can post it up.

This image shows the cruise control lever:

Thanks for confirming I'm on the right track...I looked at some close up pictures of the intermediate lever from both sides of the gas pedal and then bought the whole thing for $28. When it arrives I will learn how to remove and reposition that lever without breaking it. I had actually hooked the servo to the intermediate linkage which placed it at an awkward angle, unlike your picture shows...and it didn't work. Thanks again. Wlutz
