Pulled off aluminum pipe to between coupler and heater core.
The coupler is now behind the gas pedal. There is not enough clearance to pull it straight, gas pedal is in the way.
cn90 says to remove the gas pedal... how?
TIA.

On my 1999 two 10mm head (M6) bolts hold the pedal on
On edit...sorry...not useful. On ME7 the pedal is electronic and completely different

found this diagram...
#3 is spring. #5 is like a screw that helps ajust the pedal and feet relationship.
would pulling the shaft, #4 free the assembly from the base?

Here is how I removed the accelerator pedal on my '97 855 GLT:
1) Pry out the pin (this pin is #2 in the schematic diagram above): 2) View of pin mostly pried out: 3) Once the pin is pried out all the way, a leaf spring under the pedal will push it up out of the cradle: 4) Lift the pedal out of the cradle and move it to the side: At this point you will have enough room to pull out the connector. Good luck!
My memory is that the connector was a tight fit in the firewall insulation and I had to pull harder than I thought I would have to in order to get it to come out.

Awesome Jason!
Now I have a chance to complete this project.
For next steps, I ask...
do ALL clips and assorted seal/o'ring must come out of the coupler before the firewall install task? And then inserted over respective hoses at firewall, and aulminum pipes, for proper snap conenctions at junction. (?)
P.S. The arrow on coupler shows lower connection is fluid outlet from heater core.

For the new coupler junction replacement:
The procedure for seating aluminum pipes, the retaing clip, yellow plastic seal/spacer, and the two o'ring must come out of coupler, and then placed over the pipe, and then inserted at the junction.
However, tha same is not true for hoses at the firewall. Only the clip is pulled off from the coupler. The yellow sealing/spacer, and the o'ring stays inside the coupler by design. Placing the clip over the hose connection, then inserting with light lubrication does the job.

LoL!
CEL came on this morning - hesitates, and dies in seconds.
It is running with MAF unplugged.
How may days are safe running with MAF unplugged?
Thank you.

Your fuel economy will go down but it's perfectly safe. The ECU defaults to a rich mixture to protect the engine with no MAF signal. A couple weeks is fine
