Looking at replacing what was removed on this car (2000 VR) with one from an XC. Outside of the turbo size difference, is the heat shield the same?
Also, what size bolts does the heat shield use? anyone have a diagram? thanks.
V70R turbo heat shield same as V70XC?

Yes, they are the same. I don't know the bolt sizes though, I would just pull a shield and bolts from the junkyard then you know you are good to go.

Erik you are normally correct, but I think you may be wrong in this case if we are talking about a 2000 V70R. A 2000 V70Xc has the same portion down the back of the block but the horizontal piece across to the top of the turbo is different. The 2000 R heat shield is now obsolete as I have found out. If you have a stud sticking out from the top of your turbo, then this is definitely the case.

I am almost certainly wrong in this case, listen to Neil!

It is the rounded portion that I am referencing; the flat piece is still there alongside the block.
OK, so now I have to find a 2000 specific piece? I may have to enlist this forum's help in that regard.

It was called a Protection Plate by Volvo part # 9202262. I am looking for one and if I have any luck finding more than one I'll let you know. I may know a man as they say!

First I need to apologise to Erik, as I was presumptious that your car has a B5244T2 motor and T19 turbo. Assuming it has, then the answer I gave is correct. Strangely, even Vida shows the wrong heat shield, but then shows the correct one on a different page for the muffler system.
Here is a link to v70r webpage which shows most of the horizontal heat-shield in the 2nd picture. To the far end you can see the nut that holds it down onto the stud on the top of the turbo.

Let me know if yours manifold looks like this with that stud so that if I find one I can either get one for you, or let you know where there is one.

yes, it has the 19t, and the stud is present.
but, looks easy enough to pop a hole in an XC type shield. I'm not looking for concours level replacement, just something to help with the radiating heat. (also trying to solve my rich running problem at the moment, too, but that is another thread...) thanks.

Got a note back from my 'source' and they have the heat shield used for $65 CDN + shipping. They know they are obsolete. Good news is that for those in the US that means about $50 US + shipping. If you want to buy one then PM me and I'll pass on the contact info to you.
