1995 850 Turn signal problem (Fast blinking on left)

Post by Jokerz »

I have a issue i cant get to repair. When i turn right, the turn signal works like it should, but when i switch on the left turn signal it blinks very fast. First i thought it was a burnt bulb, but i checked every one of them, there good.
What could be the problem. I even changed all light bulbs to rule out that one of them could have a slightly smaller resistance.

Please help, it annoys me as hell...

The relay may be sensing a minor variance in the resistance, not enough to affect the bulb lighting. Try changing or cleaning and reseating the relay. Or the same for the signal stalk. other than that it's just wiring. Oh yeah, check your grounds for the lamps, that may be where the resistance differs.

1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)

I had that problem this summer. With the car parked, I could see the left front signal light wasn't lighting with the signal on, only the rear light was.

I pulled the left front unit (detach the spring from inside by the headlight) and found water in the bulb housing. The contacts were corroded in the bulb socket. I dried it out and cleaned up the contacts with a small screwdriver and utility knife, put it back together and it sort of worked but the filament was still dim when it lit. Took it apart again and cleaned up the ground some more, put on some dialectric grease and presto—it works! Meanwhile, I found a cleaner one at the junk yard if I need it.

Does the coresponding turn signal blinks fast too or it doesn't work at all?
Also...when you hit hazards(all 4),do they work normally?

The hazards work fine all 4 blink in the same speed.
The left turn signal lights light up as bright as the right one, but they blink twice as fast.
Ok, ill check the ground contacts on the lamps and check the relay.
Is the relay in the hazard switch? If yes, how can i get it out without braking anything?

Relay is hazard switch.

Since it works fine when you switch it...it's ok.

Check the bulb housing and ground.

Thankyou for the help! I found out that the front turn signal connector had an issue. The wire connected to the lamp, one of the wires had only two small threads left, so the light is working, but the resistance is much larger then on the right side light!
