99 V70. Cooling staying on maybe too long

Post by obayha »

Not very frequent at first, but then a little more with the fan being on after the car is shut down. I have let it run a few times, but think it would keep on running the battery down, so I unplug the grey relay? on the front and then when I go out to leave ,plug it back in. This would make me think it is that relay, so I changed it with the one from the '98, which has never had a problem, and it still does it, but not all the time. So what is the next part I can steal from the '98 and try?
I am taking into the fact that it is hot outside, but the fact that it does and doesn't do it under pretty much same situation, makes me think I need to address another sensor.
Thoughts and/or comments are welcome.

Not normal for ME 4.3 or 4.4 but quite normal for ME7 or Denso management systems in MY 1999.& 2000 and years after this.

I have never run it past 5 mins.
One thing I noticed today. I have to turn off my car and open a gate, crank it back up and drive 50 yards and turn it off again. The fan stayed on during the first shut down, crank it back up drove the 50 yards and fan turned off with car. I don't think it could cool down that fast, to be on and less than 1 min later shut off with car. I am worried about leaving it running for fear of battery drain. If I pull out the plastic that holds the relay on the front, near the radiator, the fan clicks on and off, as I move it all around. It did this once today at the gate, yet I sat in traffic and had A/C on the entire time and when I stopped at auto store for supplies, no fan issue. Drove from there to home,2 miles, stopped, no fan issue. I'm thinking, carry a spare battery and cables and see what happens if it stays on. I thought there were other relays or things to check/replace.
My '98 T5 never ran on after shut down, no matter how hard I ran it.
Thanks for any other ideas.
