1994 volvo 850 turbo wagon - service pcv system

Post by southofmotown »

I am trying to service my vehicle's PCV system, but running into a couple issues. You can see the crankcase vent hose I removed from my vehicle. The one I received from FCP Euro (VOL-9471644) is different: it has (2) additional small hoses. Do I just block off these hoses?

That part # you have given is for a 97 Turbo 850 and 98 V/S/C70 turbo's. I believe the correct part # for your car is: 1271867, but it does say it replaces a 1 Piece hose (9471644-6, 1389574-3).

However, if you go it IPD website:

http://www.ipdusa.com/products/11270/12 ... -850-turbo

There is a different kit for earlier turbos up to engine serial # 330414. So perhaps you have the earlier engine style. But having said that, it also has a dual pipe. The smaller pipe goes to the end of the intake manifold. If yo don't have a connection there, then the pipe would appear to serve no purpose and plugging it is therefore serving no purpose as if neither end is connected to anything there is nothing to loose? Are the 2 pipe connected in any way?

I have a pre-330414 vehicle. I checked and double checked, and this is the kit they offer for my car. I will check to see if there is a place to plug in the smaller pipe to the intake manifold but, if not, I guess just plug it. As far as the small pipe on the other end, I guess that goes into the PTC valve? That confuses me because I had a different hose going into the PTC valve before (when my breather hose was just a single tube). Now what do I do with that hose which no longer has a place? (I will have to check in the morning to see if the pipes are connected in any way.)
