I don't think you can get a better answer than matching part numbers in VIDA

Thanks, that's good pickin' info.. T6s dropped trannies as normal failure mode. (XC90 T-6s too)
Current Volvos:
1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)

Greetings. After a little research, I found that 99-00 turbo engines ( serial # up to 181xxxx ) use a 7mm valve stem. After 181XXXX use a 6mm valve stem. It's confusing sometimes when you read a vendor fit list and they list multiple years that cross engine serial numbers.
This gives me the feeling that heads needing 7mm valve stem are being rebuilt with 6mm valve stems , with the valve guide being cut to size. Maybe this is OK if the seal is also adjusted to 6mm, the valve head exh. 27mm and shaft length 104mm are the same. Rebuilders buy in bulk and have the tools to do what we can't.

It also seems that the Osvat Valve, made of austenitic metal is the replacement choice of local builders. It is claimed to replace the need of sodium in the exhaust valves. $17.99 on FCP.

Greetings. Been a minute , but still on the task. Picked up a complete 2000 GLT SE head unit today (head, cams , cover ) at PNP. Cost me only $ 35, due to half off Labor Day sale. Engine and cams rotated. Also the clerk charged it as cast iron head. Sweet. It appears its a blown head gasket.
Now wondering if to swap in these valves into my 2.3 head, after having guides , seals and resurfacing. Or just rebuild the 2.4 GLT head and install. By the looks of it the car owner was not a member of this site. Lots of oil sludge . A couple of lifters show signs of water deposit (rusty coloration).
If anybody can find the Volvo engineer that put that PITA water line on the back of the head, slap him !!
Thoughts and opinions respected.

Greetings. Update. Head was installed this weekend. Unfortunately, due to approaching Texas Twisters (Pray for my city) , I forgot to install exhaust manifold gaskets. That may have saved my life. Now to avoid ruining TTY head bolts and gasket, I must remove exhaust manifold . Turbo too ? Is this removal pretty much the same in all turbo cars ( 98-00) ? It'll be garaged , so jack stands will be available. Helpful tips respected.
