Re: 1998 S70 T5 SE: Price my car for me please
I'm in Edmonton I've got a 98 s70 t5 with 200,000kms. I might pay as much as $2000 for the car( hypothetically speaking of course) If I was you, ask $2000 for it, and don't take less then $1500.

Not mentioning this is a huge oversight. I revise my original call, you may be able to get $1300 for it.TrstnBrtt wrote:Oh yeah... AC doesn't work either,...

No impact on Price in Canada. Everyone in Canada knows AC doesn't work already

Well that's a silly statement ...
The opening post contains a detailed list of "the bad" and it didn't say "no AC" so I assumed the evap core had been replaced somewhere along the way. I only buy p80s with working AC, even though I rarely use it even here in the midwest. You need AC in Canada too, it's plenty wet in BC and sometimes AC is the only way to efficiently defrost the front windshield.

Well I'm a little apprehensive about starting to fix things all willy nilly because I've seen quite a few P80s sit on Craigslist for awhile and I'm going to assume that it's either going to sit or I'm going to get low-balled. Personally I think a car that is reliable and runs and drives is worth something but I can also understand that people aren't really going to be interested a car without all the creature comforts.
If I paid attention to signs with little symbols I’d never find anywhere to park.

Trust me, you need AC in Canada. When its hot, its also humid, except for the praries and that is a double wammy.
Put some rubber shims to sandwhich the dash to the glass, it takes care of most annoying dash rattles. As for the A/C it may need a simple charge, which you can DIY although you are not pulling a vacuum to suck the moisture out it can at least tell the buyer the overall system is okay.

I have to concur with others regarding a working AC system. I went the distance repairing same, along with the dreaded dash mount repair, heater core etc while in there, mainly for the benefit of removing humidity. The summer here has been a joke, mostly cool, but I have driven on days with heavy rain, and had great difficulty clearing the windshield in the past, when the AC was not working. The job was a project, as all steel AC lines were removed, cleaned, painted, and coated with high temperature grease, to slow the rusting process, along with orifice tube replacement. My original dryer was steel and had rusted out also.
Don't get me wrong, it is a love - hate relationship with this car given all of the sweat equity, but I feel a non-working AC system is a pretty big deal. Slow leaks in general are a pain but the evaporator is often the culprit, and the worst place for a leak.

I don't think anyone is urging you to fix it before putting it up for sale (I'm definitely not!), just answering your request to give pricing opinions.TrstnBrtt wrote:Well I'm a little apprehensive about starting to fix things all willy nilly ...
