97 V90 Remote Control

Post by Elchpower »

Hello
I got problems with my remote control in my v90.
I already have a thread in an other forum but nobody was able to help me 100%.

Here is a link to the whole thread.
http://www.jagrullar.se/forum/viewtopic ... 94#p995794
there are pictures and a description what exactly the problem is.

short summary:
- changed relay C210 and F211 half year ago.
- remote worked a bit random (40% success to open or close)
- after three weeks nothing was working any more (relay dead after 3 weeks? :?: )
- 7 days ago I replaced the orange C210 and F211 with the black one.
- now its working again but only random (25% success)?!

I hope you can help me :D

Thanks for your answer

what should I buy on ebay? (already tried different remotes at my volvo shop -> they had some old ones and we tried it with all the othes --> same random working like mine )

I bougth already a orange relay C210 and F211 and it worked a bit and after 3 weeks it died.
now the black relay C210 and F211 is working but only random.

I would examine the electrical response at the control mechanism with a digital multi-meter or at the output device affected when the remote is triggered.

Myself, I have an automotive multi-meter, so I can "see signals" when tracing a circuit. For activating a relay, I'll assume they use a ground, but it could be a positive signal also. I have not examined this wiring diagram, nor have I trouble-shooted this before.

In this sub-forum, this topic is uncommon, but trouble shooting is trouble shooting...you start checking affected circuits for a signal when remote is activated.

I don't think this part is available: 9166157 volvo

Nor is this part: Stock Code 9177999

In the US at a Volvo dealer; these might be located in a US salvage yard

RE: "any other possibility to get the remote control work again ?
maybe a add-on kit from the aftermarked ?"

Last I knew, there are aftermarket kits, but one must understand how vehicle is wired.

Why don't you join the German forum http://www.volvo-forum.de and ask if someone in your neighbourhood has a Volvo Guard II diagnostic test and programming unit.
Most Volvo dealers have disposed of them and they have been bought by enthousiasts.

Alternatively you can send the relais and the remotes to me and I will gladly test and program them. But I live in Holland so postage will be more expensive
