2009 C30 T5 - doesn't start - CEM-DE11

Post by brunotata15 »

HI all.

I have my volvo c30 t5 2009 for 5 years, and 10 days before volvo stops and didn't start any more.

Here on brazil I bought the volvo vida dice for 400 U$ , the local volvo dealers are extremely expensive and they just want to replace everything, for example the BCM module costs about 5 thousand US$ here. for that motive I'm trying everything before sending the car to Volvo.

My car stop and didn't start , on the panel I got the errors : "ANT SKID SERVICE NECESSARY / park assistence service necessary / DSTC is OFF"

After that, I've checked:
1- battery
2-abs sensors (on the wheels)
3- ECM connectors cleaned
4- BCM connectors cleaned
5- Relays and fuses are normal and I've removed and garanteed that they are all connected.

Now I've bought the Volvo vida Dice and it returns the errors: BCM-0100 and CEM-DE11 and Volvo vida says that ECM is grey , saying that the system can't reach ECM.

On Volvo vida dice, the program say to check the ECM ground and power cables , I discovered what are the ECM connector pins for power and ground, but with the multimeter none of them give any signal. How can I test it? do you have any Idea how to check the cables and ECM?

I've already read so many foruns researching this behavior, but didn't find anything about how to check.

also, these 3 informations that I've received from volvo vida ( BCM0100/cem-de11/ GRey ecm signal on volvo vida) means that the issue is on ECM?

thanks in advance and I hope you never get the situation that I'm here, with volvo dealers and no support

Yes. All these codes point to the ECM.
If you have questions about Volvo firmware ask me. I may know an answer :)

i've checked all the fuses and relays, also checked the battery.

how can I check the ground and the power on the module? I'm afraid of the module is burned or something like that

You need to get wiring diagrams. Take off the module and get tester and check necessary contact at the socket.
As for KEY. It is not the issue and cannot force ECM to be off.

I'm with the wiring diagrams, I disconnected the module cable and was trying to test the cable wires, I found the B2/b4 are grounds, and With a light 12v , checked that the ground is OK. the wire b3 is the 12v power suply, I tried to check and there is no signal of 12v on this wire, am I doing it right? or this b3 only has 12v when connected to the module?

Question are you using one of those cheap chinese knockoff elm327 obd2 bluetooth adapters? I had the same issue however when i unplugged the obd2 adapter all the codes went away after a short time. I think that somehow it was messing with the handshakes between all the different computer modules. after i unplugged the adapter and shut the car off got out and checked the battery terminals it started fine. then the next day i plugged in the obd2 adapter and again i had the issue. after this happened a few times i realized that it was the obd2 adapter causing the issues because it never happened unless it was plugged in.

Tom
