Sell my 850 for a V70?

Post by sandytrean »

I love my 850, but there are some lingering issues that I'm not sure I want to fix, such as the leather seats, the complete failure of the clear coat, and minor annoying things like the cup holders and body damage. I found a nearby V70 T5 that is clean, but its a 2001, which I know has some issues. The transmission problem doesn't bother me, I need an excuse for a manual swap.

Any reasons why I shouldn't go for the V70? I'm going to drive it tomorrow.

Bought it for 2k, have about another 2k in it. New headliner, heater core, pcv has been done, abs module, MAF, fuel relay, ignition switch, tailgate struts, new front suspension.

Since you are going in "eyes wide open" with the transmission issues I don't see any reason to say no. You will be flummoxed by many of the CAN bus systems but VIDA/DICE clones are fairly cheap - about the same as a single scan at the dealer.
