1998 S70 Lower ball joint

Is the lower front balljoint part of the whole idler arm assembly or is this an easy job where I can just replace the ball joint by itself?

It is part of the control arm. Not difficult to change.

There is no upper ball joint. As kahl says, the control arm contains the ball joint. It's an easy fix

Stick to Volvo or Lemforder control arm.

Thanks mcuh guys. Does my S70 (Base) have any tie-rod ends or a sway bar end-link?
I might as well replace any other ancient items in this area while I am at it.

With all do respect Mr.Detail...my advice is to take your car to service for all the work it needs.
When owner ask something like this about suspension....for it's SAFETY...it's the best idea to take it's car to a shop.

There is NO car in this world without tie rods or sway bar end links.

There are a number of videos by RSPI that you can get through Utube that explains the suspension on your car. Robert has done a great job educating us on our cars and giving us the ability to complete a wide variety of tasks.
