I checked the PCV last night using the glove test. All seemed to be OK although I am aware that it is not a definitive test. I also had a good look around the top of the engine and there was no oil evident anywhere I looked so it seems to be coming from lower down. Hmmm what next. I think a visit under the car with a torch might be good idea.
The oil was changed a week or so ago. The oil that is on the ground is fresh but contaminated with some dried up oil/road crud that has been sitting on the chassis member I mentioned in original post.

Yup, get up in the air safely, take off skid plate and look at bottom of engine, up the sides and around the transmission. Passenger side will be front of motor, if there is oil there you can take the timing belt cover off and look down too. My leak was very little but front of engine was wet enough to identify that area as culprit. I wouldn't look for a river of oil, just being "damp" is enough. Of course drip spots is a good indication but only of the lowest spot the leak found, not necessarily the source. happy hunting!
