It looks like the roof rails bolt onto the P2 without the trim strip removal needed on the P80

Can anyone confirm this is true, or not true?

I might be in the market for a P2 style roof rail set ASAP for college trip next week...

I want to do the same to mine as well, but have not gotten around to it. Here is some information I gathered earlier to help when I get around to it. Perhaps it will help. I expect the trim pieces are different too.

Plastic gets cut just like the P80s and if you do this be very careful, it's not made anymore (the roof strips)

What's Baltic Blue?
Your car is Barents Blue and Bryn Mawr sure, but Swarthmore is 30 miles away from there and me!

Baltic blue is at least on the right country. I bet no Volvo has ever even seen the Barents Sea....

Pix to come

Trim strips on the 2005 P2 are aluminum but cut really nice with Dremel 409 wheel. I used one per side.

On this subject, can anyone explain how the front trim strips are properly attached to the sides of the windscreen? There are several sliding plastic clips, and one can slide them up to tighten with a thin metal tool like a putty knife, but they do not seem to stay put. Must one buy new plastic clips?

2001 v70 2.4T: The most expensive $1500 car I ever bought ("Volvo Turbo" - what an oxymoron!) (sold)
2004 v70: Far less fatally-flawed v70 - It served well (sold)
2010 v50: Smaller, slightly sportier wagon. Its got a spoiler, so I upgraded with sway bars!

You can just glue them back in with RTV cement

The P2 delivered child number 2 to college yesterday, with roof rack working perfectly, at 32 mpg heavily loaded

Oh GOD no, do not glue! Those usually break on removal so you need to buy 4 new ones
The windshield clips are different than the rest of them

and Steve, you didn't call....... :(
