2004 S60R Angle Gear Removal From Transmission

I am finally at the point to remove the angle gear. However, when I try to remove it from the transmission it will slide of the collar sleeve approximately two inches but will not come all of the way off. Anyone else run into this issue? I have all five bolt removed and the drive shaft. Nothing should be keeping it from coming off the transmission. Anyway, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Does it need a good nudge off the splines?
