1998 S90 Shifter knob is not fuctioning

1998 S90 transmission shift know is non functional. Had pulled console plate to access lockrelease. The Plastic push rod in the shifter is broken off at the top of the shifter arm. What do I need to fix this myself? I can get round, but feel it is not safe. Maybe it is. Do I buy the parts from a recycler or go the
parts department route?

Same shifter should have been used in the 960 since 1994. Probably easier to swap in a good used shifter.
