I've got a 2000 v70XC and am about to get the 16t in there so it's time to start manually monitoring the different engine parameters (boost, AFR, coolant temp...)
Here's the conundrum...I would like to have the most info possible, without having a bunch of gauges everywhere to try and keep a stock look. does anybody here know if there is a digital reader that can do all of this aftermarket? something that looks like this:
Any ideas?
So, I'm getting my 16t in a couple days...

I've had all sorts of difficulties with getting my M4.3 to give up any secrets at all about what's going on inside my engine, and would have dearly loved a thing like that. I'm working on an idea for something like that, but it's going slow and is becoming potentially a bit too complicated and expensive.
But! For a '00 model, you shouldn't really have any trouble using an OBD II BT-adapter and a 'droid or iOS app. Unless you're dead set on having a dedicated display like that?

A You Tube channel here called Mighty Car Mods details a 6 inch Android tablet powered up by a cigarette lighter USB adapter hidden cleverly away in the console. A fascia plate around the tablet takes care of holes around the edges where the old sound system was located and the unit is amplified by an amp under the seat after passing the headphone output through a line regulator. The Torque app via a ELM327 bluetooth adapter can then be exploited and customised to your dash light colour and guage choice.

If it was me, I'd go Torque app+Android phone/tablet, or Arduino before a proprietary device.

Does this transmit data fast enough? if I let off the gas and back on, will I see real time changes as fast as the ECU spits them out, or is there a frustratingly slow lag due to the Bluetooth? this seems too good to be true!

@sommerfeldt:
Sounds like it is time to drop in a 4.4 ECU so you can just watch (and/or record) everything live on a laptop.

So, if you can Bluetooth a tablet, what about one of the seven inch display Bluetooth head units? The you still have a stereo.

While we're here...what is the thread the guy started who has an XC and has done pretty much everything to it. (XC delete, Porsche brakes, 16t, 19t, rebuilt motor...)? It was very well documented and LOTS of pictures. I believe the car was Silver and I think his avatar is his face with...Maybe a ponytail?
I have a bunch of bookmarks of builds like this so when i have a question I can refer to them. I thought I saved that thread, but cannot find it!

I'm pretty sure I'm thinking of the same thread as you. But it was/is on Volvospeed. I gave Google 5 minutes of my time trying to find it but no luck.
And yea, it was the craziest/cleanest P80 XC70 build ever. If you do look for it and find it, please start a new topic.

It's looking like that's what I'll do... but I'm hunting for a 16T as well, so it'll be whenever I find one of those and a new tune.erikv11 wrote:@sommerfeldt:

I had an idea for one of those stick computers, coupled w/an HDMI touchscreen from Adafruit, but it's just getting too complicated w/the M4.3.
