04 C70 Transmission disengages when hot

Anyone ever have this. Car runs fine for about 5 +/- miles. Once the transmission gets hot the transmission seems to shut down and car wont engage. Like a default safety to neutural. Wont move! not foward and not reverse. Dealer says it needs a new transmission. Thinking about doing the DIY transmission swap or DIY new valve bodys but don't want to burn the calories if it can be solved by far less drastic measures. Drain & fill and Seafoam Trans-tune have not helped. Any tricks or advice is welcome. Only problem is when HOT.

Is there a transmission code or CEL?? If not I doubt you can solve this without a rebuild.

Hook Vida up to the car and read transmission fluid temperature. As you may know there is a fluid temperature sensor on the valve body. If it's reporting incorrectly or faulty the TCM may have a limp home mode for an overheat situation. The fluid temp sensor is on the upper right area of the valve body.

The overheat may actually be true due to something wrong in the transmission where binding is occurring. Changing the fluid temp sensor may solve if there is no issue.

No code on my OBDII reader. Dont have the fancy VIDA reader but thinking about getting the china knockoff. Seems like no matter what I will have to get into transmission to fix it.

There's an outfit called VBX that will do a valve body exchange with guarantee for about $600. I believe they are here in Jersey as well.

Closing this loop. Tried a valve body swap and it did not fix. Probably needs a rebuild.
