Hey all,
so I've been wondering about something both my P2's are doing, and previous Volvos have all done: When I start my drive in the morning, after backing out of driveway, going forward at this point, at some point around 100 yards or at about 20 mph there is this vague mechanical latch release from the sounds of it. I'm thinking maybe parking break or something and its from underneath as far as I've been able to locate. Anyone know what that might be? it could also be some sort of lock engaging but its definitely not the doors.
thanks!

I don't think so as it happens every time I drive even if I haven't unlocked the cover.... That is a good idea though, I might listen for that area though to me it sounds more directly under driver seat. I might also add that its a automatic though it's definitely not happening during gear change.

Do you use the handbrake when parking it? Rear park brakes are notorious to cause issues on these cars.
Ventilation flaps inside the dash board also do move by themselves from time to time making a small noise.

I do not use hand break when parking. Some sort of test was what I suspected too, I did a quick Google and it seems like a good candidate, I'm thinking that's it. Since they're both doing it I'll chalk it up to a test and apparently it passes. thanks!

ABS self-test. See: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... =1&t=44697 and other topics. Not always 10-15 MPH; depends on your acceleration speed. At a previous house I would roll down the hill and it would click at 20+ MPH. Cheers,
