1994 855 Little plastic gear

Post by webstyles »

...I know that got your attention, and everyone instantly thought 'Odometer Gear', but this is another one (I've been through the odometer process too though, and managed to buy a replacement gear). This one is for the Air Recirculation Motor (the one that has the common problem of the little plastic arm cracking at the top and falling off and then you get a clicking sound during ignition whenever the recirculation button is off). Well, it turns out that the plastic arm cracks/breaks/falls off because the motor forces it too much, which happens when one of the gears inside the motor casing breaks (at least, in my case).

So the million buck question is: where to buy those gears, anyone know?

Thanks

Why don't you buy used one from junkyard? As far as i know,it's not a common problem on these cars, and used replacement part would be a good option.

well I don't really want to buy the hole box and motor if all I need is the plastic gear (I prefer to fix things when possible instead of replacing them altogether). One option I'm considering is doing a 3d drawing and having the gear printed on a 3d printer. Not sure how much that would cost.

I too thought this thread was about the odometer gear, and its good I kept reading because...

I know a guy in Hungary who can print what you need. His ebay name is "cnvhu", find an odometer gear auction from him such as item number 271688756887, and contact him. He takes paypal and will likely be glad to ship to Portugal. He charges minimally.

Hello there,

I know it's an old thread, but maybe there's still someone who's interested.

Webstyles, are you talking about gears for unit part nr. 9142629 or 6849558?

I am actually working on those gears, and manufactured a few pieces already, but I am not satisfied with quality, so I am not selling those yet. (Honestly, I am not really rushing it, as there was only a few people looking for them so far.)
But if there's serious interest, I am willing to put more effort into development, to make these gears last for ever.
Would anyone here be interested in helping development by trying free sample pieces?

And by the way, Mika, thanks for your nice words : )
I am always happy to see satisfied customers.

Wish you all a nice weekend!
