I need to find which engine I have in my 1999 Volvo V-70 by using the vin Number

It is identified by the 6th and 7th digit in the VIN.

Thanks. Maybe I didn't ask enough. The engine has Wrecking yard yellow markings in a couple of places, so I'm thinking that maybe the engine has been replaced? the car has been in a front end collision, not sure how bad. Has a new hood, radiator support etc. So is there a code on the engine itself? Thanks Again, Ed

There is plate on the engine between the fire wall and the engine on passenger side around the heat shield.

Look down next to exhaust port number 1 just behind the water pump. The large water pipe pretty much obscures the view however try pointing a smartphone down there and snapping it with flash on.
