Sometimes there is a loud ticking noice coming from the engine. Hard to locate exactly from which part of the engine.
I noticed it starts when the car is idling for a while.
All belts timing and serpentine) have recently been replaced. This noise was already there before the belts were replaced.
I also read here that is may be a fuel injector. Never knew these could make noise.
Does anybody know what this can be?

We cannot give an opinion without knowning the mileage
Yes, I forgot that.
152,000 miles.
The ticking is equal to the engine (idle) speed. So, if you give gas, the frequency of the ticking also increases.
Other info; just finished the Auto-RX treatment, both CV joints are re-built, fresh coolant, PCV system serviced, new tranny fluid.

I would never be able to hear a tick from something other than the injectors. My injectors are all very very loud. Much louder than any other vehicle that I have ever owned. I am assuming that this is normal?

Don't understand that statement.dejongmc wrote:I just finished a Auto-RX treatment, so Lucas oil additive is not needed anymore and will not solve the problem.
How did you solve this problem? New fuel injectors?
You USED Lucas and it didn't work or you AutoRx'ed it and it didn't work,
(or both)?
No, I did not use Lucas oil additive. I used Auto-RX which did clean the inside of the engine, so I think Lucas can not solve this ticking.
If it is a fuel injector, how do you get rid of the ticking sound? And why is the injector making this sound, is it going bad?
I read that a lot of people have this problem.

The I5 engines' injectors tick to some degree or another. Mine are loud.
