Help with NA cam install on 98R
Looking for a write up for dummies on NA cam install on a 98R. Didn't mark anything to show me where to go. I'm in process of reassembly after head replacement. Prefer some step by step help as this whole project I got myself in I'm doing it the first time on my own.

Look at the cam reassembly steps in the head gasket tutorials, this one is the gold standard:

You want to get the crank on the mark for sure for sure, then use the slots on the back of cams make them parallel to the surface of the head. One above, one below.

I thought when installing the NA cams on a turbo car you change position. How do I know which cam is exh and int?

I think you're right that with NA cams on a turbo car you went to advance one of the cams. I don;t know the procedure but you can email Lucky at ARD. He should be able to help you out.

You can advance and retard the cams later, after it is all put together. If you want to nail that now then figure out what advance and retard you want, I would get a tool for it. The intake cam has an I at the end of the serial number on the back end by the slot. The exhaust cam has an E.

You may need a tune for it to matter. I believe I had some gain with a '98 T5. Took almost 1 second off my 0-60 time.
